Week 10

Sorry this was posted late:  Congratulations to the 4th graders for an awesome hip hop show!

4/5 - This week we compared and contrasted using two different resources - the internet and nonfiction books.  We began to examine how text features look and how they can help us to understand what we are reading, and how they can help us learn new information.

Home Connection:  Discuss your use (both in your personal and work-life) of the internet to gain information with your children.

3 - We spent time working on writing from the classroom.

Home Connection:  Ask your children what they are writing about.

K/1 - This week we studied the letter Zz.  Students worked together to come up with different words that begin with z.  We practiced the z sound, as in zoo. We also recited a chant for the letter z, and decorated it so that the picture matched the words (just like how the illustrations in our books match the words on the pages).  After that, we labeled it, just like how we label the pictures in our writing.  We sang a silly letter z song.
